About the role

Cafe Ogawa is created by the people behind the legendary ramen shop “Ogawa” in Japan, and we’re thrilled to be opening our very first branch in Australia! Opening in Ascot Vale this December, we’re looking for enthusiastic team members who love great food, great vibes, and great company.

We specialise in iekei-style ramen — rich, comforting, and full of flavour.

As we build a small, close-knit team, we’re looking for people who are adaptable, team-oriented, and excited to grow with us as we bring authentic Japanese ramen culture to the local community.

Positions available:

Kitchen Hand / All-Rounder (Part-time / Full-time)
Front of House (Part-time / Full-time)

Location:

217 Union Rd, Ascot Vale VIC 3032

Opening hours (subject to change):

Lunch: 11:30 – 15:00
Dinner: 17:30 – 22:00

Training:

Expected to start on 25th November

Ideal skills and requirements

Kitchen / All-rounder

1+ years experience in a kitchen environment (ramen making experience is a bonus)
1+ years experience as a front of house staff
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
Ability to adapt and work across both kitchen and front-of-house tasks when needed
Friendly and approachable, with good customer service skills
Appreciation of Japanese flavour and cooking techniques
Willingness to learn new skills and ideas
Excellent communication skills
Reliable, punctual, and able to maintain a clean and organised workspace
A great team player who’s eager to learn and contribute wherever needed
Willingness to work for more than 12 months

Front of House

1+ years experience as a front of house staff in a cafe or a restaurant (coffee-making experience is a bonus)
Friendly, welcoming, and able to create a warm experience for every guest
Confident working independently and managing the front area during quieter times
Strong communication skills and a positive attitude when working with both customers and team members
Able to multitask and stay calm during busy service periods
A reliable team player who takes pride in great service and enjoys connecting with people

Wages and Salary will depend on each individual Part time employment | starting from Level 1 Restaurant Industry Award (MA000119) with skills bonus as you progress
