[Hareruya] Pastry Cook

What we're looking for

TSUNAGU Project is seeking a talented pastry cook who possesses infinite curiosity. You'll work on-site at our cafes, or at our central kitchen alongside our great team of kitchen staff creating Japanese pastries and other baked goods. This is your opportunity to make a 'delicious impact' to our friendly neighbourhood.

Ideal skills

  • 2+ years experience as a pastry cook
  • Attention to detail
  • Appreciation of flavour and cooking techniques
  • Willingness to learn new skills and ideas
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Understanding of Japanese flavours
  • Organised and punctual
  • Willingness to work more than 6 months

What's involved

  • Wages and Salary will depend on each individual Part time employment | starting from Level 1 Restaurant Industry Award (MA000119) with skills bonus as you progress
  • Full time employment (38hrs)
  • Weekend penalty rates and annual loading on top aligning with all industry award rates

Responsibilities

  • Developing products, estimating food and labour costs, and ordering supplies
  • Monitoring the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation
  • Reporting and communication with management
  • Demonstrating techniques and advising on cooking procedures
  • Preparing, baking, and decorating a variety of pastries, cakes and other baked goods
  • Ensuring all pastry preparation areas meet hygiene, food safety, and sanitation standards
  • Freezing and preserving foods as required
  • Training staff in pastry-making techniques and decorating methods
